Senior A

Primarily for swimmers aged 14 – 18 that are committed and hard working. Stroke refinement and race strategies are emphasized.

  • Typically train 8 times per week, 5 evenings and 3 mornings. Four of these training sessions are done in conjunction with the Bow River Swim Association (“BRSA”)
  • Develop leadership, discipline and commitment to the sport. Train following an individual medley (“IM”) based program
  • Compete within Calgary and throughout Alberta with travel and training opportunities outside the province
  • Opportunities to compete internationally

Senior B

Primarily for top age group swimmers aged 11 - 14 that are committed and hard working. Swimmers experience more challenging practices, building their endurance.  

  • Typically train 6 times per week, 3 evenings and 3 mornings
  • Develop leadership, discipline and commitment to the sport. Train following an IM based program
  • Mental preparation for races taught and race skills are refined
  • Compete within Calgary and throughout Alberta with travel and training opportunities outside the province

Intermediate

Primarily for A/B level swimmers aged 8 – 12.  Swimmers experience challenging practices, targeting heart rate and intensity levels. Coaching strategies include helping swimmers understand both the physical and mental aspects of the sport. Goal setting and race strategies are emphasized.

  • Typically train 4 times per week – 3 evenings and 1 morning
  • Learn to be technically efficient swimmers. Train following an IM based program
  • Compete within Calgary and throughout Alberta

Junior

Primarily for swimmers aged 12 and under who have a learned the basics of the various swimming strokes and wish to improve their skills with the goal of transitioning to competition. Swimmers learn about the pace clock, develop race strategies and set goals. Pool etiquette is introduced to the practice.

  • Train 3 times per week after school – Monday, Wednesday and Friday
  • Develop strong foundation in competitive strokes
  • Compete in local meets with limited travel outside of Calgary

Sprockets

Primarily for young swimmers aged 7 – 11. Swimmers learn the freestyle and backstroke and are introduced to the other competitive swimming strokes; butterfly and breaststroke. The focus is on fun, positive reinforcement and basic stroke technique.

  • Practice 2 times per week after school – Mon/Wed (for siblings only) or Tue/Thu
  • Swimmers should have basic knowledge of freestyle and backstroke to start
  • Compete when ready in Junior Circuit Meets
