2009 TAS Age Group Trials Long Course

What an exciting weekend our club had this past weekend! Thank you to ALL the volunteers that helped to make this weekend so succesfull. A special thanks to Brittany Ozar and David Hibberd for helping out with the medal presentations and to Gloria Allen and her crew for doing an amazing job in the hospitality room. The butter chicken was a hit! Thank you Joanne Berube for co-ordinating all the officials, and of course to Teresa Stauft for being the Meet Manager and doing an amazing job at that. Teresa and her experienced team of officials (clerk of course, electronics, announcer, etc.) were efficient and wonderful.

On behalf of the Killarney Swim Club and the Alberta swimming community, thank you all sponsors for your support in promoting swimming.

All of our Killarney swimmers swam great this weekend and really stepped up their game for finals. If there was a good time to swim fast, this was it; winners of individual events were automatically eligible for the Age Group & Senior Championships in two weeks. Congratulations to five KSC swimmers for winning gold medals and for moving on to the AG & Senior Champs: Noah Bloomfield, Alexa Chin, Tim Cruz, Brandon Miller and Joel Nevokshonoff.

KSC relay teams made themselves very noticeable when they stepped on the podium to collect a toal of seven medals! The team effort resulted in a collection of 1 gold, 5 silver and 1 bronze.

Let's not forget about the highlight of the meet! Killarney was perfect in the 11-12 boys 200m backstroke where we saw a 1-2-3 sweep. Brandon Miller had a big lead before taking gold but Tim Cruz and Slater Dennington had to fight off some fast competitors to complete the sweep and to win silver and bronze respectively. Good job boys, you made it very exciting.

Great job everyone!
